The weather is nicer in the fall.

Yes, autumn brings holidays such as Thanksgiving and festivities such as Halloween. For me, 'though, autumn is primarily a time to join nature in slowing down. The fall of leaves and preparations for winter encourage us to be more introspective and more mindful. Autumn is a reminder to stop, appreciate what's happened during the year, learn from what didn't go well, and plan for the next. It's my favorite season.

Autumn is my favourite season in eastern Australia though being on the coast we don't get the real colour changes that cooler places display. The temperatures in autumn are still warm but with the added joy of balmy breezes and without the humid heat of summer. Australia doesn't have Thanksgiving, nor do we have much of a Halloween tradition and instead our shopping malls are filling (already) with Christmas decorations. I love the selection of Halloween books made for the Bookbinding Etsy Street Team. You're an inspirational group.

October and November are wonderful because of pumpkins!! Pumpkins to carve and light up, pumpkins to make pumpkin-chocolate chip muffins with...I even found a white pumpkin!Thank you for this fun!♥

What I love the most about this festivities is undoughtbly halloween. Here in Portugal, we used to disguise and go knoking on the neighbours doors, asking for sweets. Bust there was no punishment if there wasn't any! :) Just for fun!
Now there are halloween parties everywhere and there are just a few kids who keep on going door to door. I have already prepared some sweet because I know that this evening there'll be some knocking on my door too! :)

I like Thanksgiving actually. We've lived away from both my mom's family and dad's family for my entire so Thanksgiving gives us that chance to reconnect.

I also like the prettiness of fall, the colors of the leaves, the briskness in the air...and cider! Cider is a major win!

We don't really get to enjoy the fall experience here in Florida so I'll provide my favorites from pre-Florida living.

Cool crisp mornings where the air is so clear you can taste it.

The trees changing from their summer wardrobes of green into the blazing colors of red, orange and yellow.

The crunch of dried leaves beneath your feet as you walk through the woods.

I love listening to Halloween music and reading horror stories in the middle of the night. Then driving down the streets to see all the spookily decorated houses, the weather cooler than those hot summer days, but not yet unbearably cold. And (of course) eating candy!

These books are all so great! It's hard to choose!

I'm a bit too big for this, and probably won't participate in it again until I have kidlings of my own (which who knows when that will happen!) but for Halloween my favorite thing was doing the Trunk or Treat activities at my church - everybody from the church would set up the back of their trunk in some fun, decorated way, and you'd trick or treat in the parking lot! There'd usually be games and things inside the church house, too. Cake walks = WIN. :-D
